Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to https://tours.ed.ac.uk.

This website is run by the Digital Innovation Team (DIT), based in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences (CAHSS), part of the University of Edinburgh.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Work is ongoing to improve the non-accessible elements of the site, with the aim of achieving WCAG 2.1. AA compliance by November 2020.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared in September 2020. It was last reviewed on 24 September 2020.

This website was last tested on 23 September. The test was carried out by the Digital Innovations Team.

We tested:

Tests are carried out by DIT using a set of automated auditing tools and the WebAIM WAVE Web Accessibility Evaluation Tool. The testing is followed by manual prioritisation of any issues with key user journeys.

Aspects of the site that were tested:

  • Scaling using different resolutions
  • Options to customise the interface (magnification, font and background colour changing etc)
  • Keyboard navigation
  • Warning of links opening in a new tab or window
  • Information conveyed in colour or sound only
